Internet Week: Panelists Discuss Digital Brand Building

This morning, NYConvergence attended the New York: Media Information Exchange Group (NY:MIEG) panel: “Selling Yourself: How to Build a Brand in the New Digital World,” at the Time Warner Center.

The panel was moderated by Ellis Henican, staff columnist for Newsday and featured Ben Relles, founder and creator of video Web site Barely Political, Amber Lee Ettinger, American actress, Internet "celebrity," and model best known as being the “Obama Girl,” Andrea Syrtash, dating expert, life coach, author and host of ON Dating, and Norm Golden, actor, writer and executive producer of 50ToDeath.com.

The panel discussed how to successfully build a brand for yourself and attract an audience, by focusing on four major points:

  • Keep producing content and keep it consistent. Make sure you know your audience so that you can eventually monetize your brand

  • Your audience should help shape your content. Establish personal connections and listen to your audience

  • Interact with your fans

  • Fall into your brand; let yourself have one big break and take it off from there. Let the brand create itself

Building a brand can really take off with the presence of new technology always emerging. By taking into consideration those points, you can really establish a true brand for yourself.
