The members of the meetup gathered last night at Tishman Auditorum in New York University's Vanderbilt Hall located in Manhattan's Greenwich Village neighborhood.  In spite of the rain, there were about 200 attendees, there to hear presentations from companies, including:
  • Epix, a joint venture from Lionsgate, MGM, and Paramount, is a new cable channel that will be launching on cable systems later this year and also online.  It will contain movies and original programming from each of the studio partners, content previously available only on Showtime, and potentially be free to view online depending on your cable provider.
  • Motionbox, whose technology is now powering video on Shutterfly's Web site.
  • Tremor Media, demonstrating its new pre-roll technology to better engage viewers with the content, allowing them, for instance, to select to see more of a movie trailer.
  • Zixi showcased its video broadband platform which works well enough to stream a live feed from someone's home to another location across the country.  The founder's family appeared live from his home.
